The Challenge To lay the groundwork with the City of Virginia Beach for a technology-based educational facility of the future by installing voice, video and other systems that would provide an upgradeable multi-media environment. The Solution AE Systems, as a test, in partnership with the City, installed a Telecenter V Interactive Voice Response (IVR) System by Rauland-Borg. This system includes both classroom intercom with telephone service to each classroom and digital telephone service for connection to the outside world. It is designed to enhance and simplify voice communications among students, parents, faculty and school administrators. The Telecenter IVR, which works on a PC platform, has totally automated the time-consuming process of notifying parents about student absences and parent-teacher conferences. It also allows students 24-hour access to important information about homework assignments, school closings and event schedules. An advanced television distribution system using Telecenter Media Retrieval was installed throughout the school to make it easier for teachers to access the increasing number of educational resources available on video. The system is upgradeable to the even more advanced Ranger Media Management System. AE Systems also installed complete sound reinforcement systems in Ocean Lake's football stadium, gymnasium, Academic Street, Scola and auditorium. The auditorium presented an acoustical challenge. Sound projected from the stage would naturally be reflected off the curved rear wall back onto the stage. AE Systems worked closely with HBA Architects once more to provide the special acoustical treatments necessary in the auditorium to eliminate the focusing of sound back onto the stage, thus ensuring speech intelligibility. AE Systems is celebrating over 30 years of creating innovative solutions to communications problems. Education and technology - we put the two together. Call us about your next project. |
